Dr. Melissa Caid, DVMDr. Caid is originally from Moorhead, Minnesota. She attended NDSU for her undergraduate studies and then graduated from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. While at the university of Minnesota, Dr. Caid worked as a technician for Dr. McKeever, who is a veterinary specialist in Dermatology and has a special interest in skin, ears, and allergies. Dr. Caid's family includes her husband Joe, who is a veterinarian in Steele, ND, along with her dogs, Brinkley and Mildred, and her cat Neo. In her spare time, Dr. Caid enjoys spending time with her family, running marathons and cake decorating. |

Dr. Nick Machtell, DVMDr. Nick Machtell is an owner. He graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Rhonda, and their 3 kids, Chantel, Kayla, and Taylor. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and woodworking. |

Dr. Tanya Borud, DVMDr. Borud grew up on a small grain and cattle farm northwest of Minot, ND. After high school, she attended NDSU and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She then attended Colorado State University where she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Professionally she has a special interest in acupuncture, pain management, and surgery. Away from work she enjoys being in the outdoors, riding horse, downhill snow skiing, and spending time with her family. Her family consists of her husband Mark, son Will as well as two dogs, two cats, and two horses. |

Lisha Riley, LVT, PMLisha grew up in Watertown, SD. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from NDSU in 2000. She worked at Valley Veterinary Hospital as a licensed veterinary technician from 2000 until 2004. In June 2004, she was offered the position of Practice Manager at Southgate Veterinary Hospital. Lisha and her husband Mark have one son Alex and an assortment of animals. She is active with the Alzheimer’s Association, Vice President of the Harwood PTO, Secretar of the REd River Sled Dog Derby Race, and is teaching part time in the Veterinary Technology Program at The MN School of Business, Moorhead. Outside of work she enjoys photography, cheering for the NDSU Bison, and watching her son in the sport of the season. |

Dawn Barth, LVTDawn graduated in 1995 from NDSU with a Bachelors of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been fortunate to have been working at Southgate ever since. Her special interests in her career are Dentistry and Client Education. Dawn and her husband, Brent have 4 children, Tiffany,Megan, Andrew and Dylan. They share their home with 2 cats, Whiska and Hermione. In her spare time, she enjoys being with family and friends, pet sitting, playing softball, biking and scrap booking. |

Karin Sundstrom, LVTKarin graduated from NDSU in 2000 with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology, and a minor in Microbiology. She was offered an intern position with Southgate Veterinary Hospital, and was hired soon after. Her areas of interest include anesthesia, surgical nursing, and critical care. She lives with two furry friends. Her dog Cassious, a rowdy black lab, who enjoys spending time at Southgate. Howard, the “hairy beast cat”, will perch on any available lap. She enjoys going to the lakes with family, watching movies with friends, and she has recently taken up golf, “FORE”! |

Alisha LePage, LVTAlisha graduated from NDSU in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology. She has worked at Southgate Veterinary Hospital full-time as well as holding a part-time position at the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic since September of 2006. At work, Alisha enjoys spending time educating and getting to know our clients and their pets, and working with dentistry, surgery, and critical care. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, camping, watching movies, and spending time with her friends, family, and two cats Dax and Steve. |

| Photo coming soon! | Vickie Anderson, LVTVickie graduated from the Univeristy of MN, Waseca in 1983, with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She practiced in the FM area until 1999. Then took time to raise a family and follow a different career path. Vickie is married to Darren and they have one son, Devin. They live on a farm 60 miles from Fargo that offers assisted living to geriatic Equine. They share their farm with 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 8 horses (7 of which are geriatric). When Vickie is not working on the farm and doing chores inside or out; she enjoys spending time with family and animals, and watching her son play sports. Her outside hobbies include: riding horse, camping, gardening, and snowmobiling. Indoor hobbies include reading, crocheting, and preserving the fruits and vegetables from her garden. She is happy to be "back in the saddle" following her FIRST career choice. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine include client education, surgical nursing, and lab work. |

| Photo coming soon! | Beth Schneider, LVTBeth graduated from a veterinary technology program in San Diego, CA in 2003 and later that year moved to Fargo. She became a licensed technician in the summer 2008. She is highly interested in veterinary surgery, anesthesia, and emergency medicine and also works part time at the Red River Animal Emergency Clinic. Beth worked at our sister clinic, Valley Veterinary Hospital, as an assistant for almost four years before joining the Southgate team in March 2009 as a technician. An avid pug lover, she has Patsy and a boy named Sue. She also has Marty, a schnauzer mix who has one of the world’s happiest tails, and two cats, Nesta and Loki. She is married to Brice and they enjoy spending time being lazy on the couch watching movies and snuggling their pets, hanging out with friends and family, listening to and watching music. |

Tonya FlifletTonya has worked at Southgate Veterinary Hospital as a receptionist since February 2006. She has a huge fondness of animals, and loves her interaction with them on a daily basis. Tonya has two dogs, Zena and Samsonite (Samson for short); and two cats Harris and Friday. In her free time Tonya enjoys spending time with friends, or just curled up with a good book. |

Erica GarlandErica is an avid pet lover and has worked in the veterinary receptionist field for over 4 years. She began her journey in the veterinary industry in Geogia and has enjoyed it ever since. Her husband Scott and son Christian and her then packed up from Geogia and moved to Fargo where they have resided ever since and enjoy spending time with family, friends, camping, fishing and reading a good book. She owns Joci and Gertie (both dogs) and would have many others if time and room allowed. |

Chelsea Korol, Veterinary AssistantChelsea has had 2 years past experience at other veterinary hospitals, before becoming a part of the Southgate Veterinary Hospital Team. She enjoys being with animals. She grew up on a farm and they have 4 dogs, 6 cats, and 2 horses. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, riding horse, and drag racing. |

Sarah Iverson, Veterinary AssistantSarah joined the Southgate team in 2008 as a part-time assistant. She is finishing her undergraduate degree at NDSU, majoring in biology with minors in business and chemistry. She hopes to become a veterinarian, and is applying to Midwest and West Coast colleges. Sarah grew up in Bismarck, ND and has many pets, including her beautiful black lab Hudson, who loves to accompany her on long bike rides in the country. Sarah also enjoys spending time with her wonderful boyfriend Cody Nelson and reading whenever she has a few spare moments. |
